Welcome to the Solar System

I. The Preface

Welcome aboard! Are you ready to travel somewhere beyond the earth? Within a few minutes, you will explore something you did not know before or at least did not expect it ever. You will be stunned by the beauty and grandeur as you go. In the end you will find yourself asking what are you doing on the Earth? Once a wise man said, 'Reality is stranger than fiction; how much deeper can you go into Reality'? Begin your journey, based on the reality, which is not easily perceived by an ordinary man of intellect, but understandable to a man of wisdom. Using the eyes of Imagination, as Albert Einstein declares, 'Imagination is more necessary than the Knowledge'; let's test your power of imagination by initiating the thought-provoking journey to the cosmos with your project: Is Universe made for you or you are the product of the Universe?

II. The Spacecraft 'LIGHT': Technical Information

Before lift off, let's recheck your fastest spacecraft ever known, 'LIGHT'. Plan your trip where you want to go. Your spacecraft will travel at approximately 300,000 kilometers per second (In this episode, we will deliberately avoid the relativistic effects of time dilation due to traveling at the speed of light.) It will record every data i.e., temperatures, space content etc taken by the sensors installed onboard your spacecraft. Please do not bring the General Perception and day-to-day science with you while onboard LIGHT because everything is a mystery up there. By the way, there is no up and down in the space, that's another mystery, which you will come to know later on. Your every step taken in this journey will be completely based on latest astronomical facts and figures gained thru international ground-based observatories, earth-orbiting space telescopes, space probes, and predictions based on them.

III. The Neighbor Next Door: Moon

Where would you like to go first? Obviously; the Moon, the closest neighbor in the space. Countdown begins. Lift off! You just reached moon after 1.2 seconds. Pretty quick! In this duration you just traveled about 385,000 km upwards. You recorded -270 C temperature while in the space and it soared up to 127 C at the surface of the Moon. The Space appeared empty to you but your instruments show the immensely rich content of space i.e., Electromagnetic Radiation from Sun (of which very little reaches at earth), active magnetic fields of Earth, Moon, and Sun, cosmic rays, Gravitation waves of Earth, Moon, and Sun at the same time etc. In conclusion, you recorded all those information which you get at earth in a very small amount or may not get them at all due to protective systems of earth. If you get, you die. This protection system is the earth's magnetic field, atmosphere and the earth's internal processes. I leave up to you to consider it a co-incidence or the précised design.

Feeling proud to travel at extremely fast speed? Now look down back to earth while you transit at the facing side of the moon. Your earth isn't there? Now you had to look upwards to see the moon. It means, you lifted off directly upwards from earth, and you expect to see earth downward. But instead you are looking upward at earth. The Moon always keeps it same side to earth. If you stand on the Moon's surface, you will see Earth fixed at one place forever. Welcome to the Universe of Mystery. You can never understand the phenomenon if it is new to you.

IV. The Heavy Weight: Sun

Lift Off! You are heading towards the Sun. It took you about 8.3 minutes to reach the Sun at the fastest possible speed. It means, whenever you see the Sun in the sky while at earth, you see the Sun as it was 8.3 minutes before. If Sun shuts down now, you and your planet will come to know after 8.3 minutes. There is no way at all to get the real-time status of the Sun, no matter how much your technology is advanced because Sun's light has to travel across the space to reach you and your devices in 8.3 minutes, independent of your math equations. In other words, when you look in the sky, you look back in time. Anyways, your speed is still fast enough to reach the sun in 8.3 minutes. You recorded about 2 Million C temperatures at the Sun. Unbelievable. At these temperatures, Sun radiates the special kinds of light which are extremely energetic and harmful to life at earth. To name a few, most known are Ultra-violet rays and the X-Rays. In contrast you receive the life-supporting lower Ultra-Violit (though it burns the skin if exposed long enough) and the Visible light (scientifically called, Optical Rays). It means you perceive just 2 percent of Sun. You are immune to see rest of the Sun. If you see, you die.

Lift off! You are facing hard time to lift off because Sun's gravity is immense. 1 KG at earth seems to be over 600 KG at Sun. If the Sun was having the same mass, but solid like Earth, you could never stand on the Sun. Our bones are not made to withstand the gravitational pull of the Sun.

VI. The Planets: Other Earths?

You visit other planets in the solar system. Some are extremely hot i.e., Venus, whose temperature is normally 470 C making it the hottest planet in the Solar System, though it is very close to the so-called 'comfortable zone' in which the water remains liquid and the colder-than-Earth planets i.e., Mars with temperatures -140 C which is also closer to the 'comfortable zone'. If one day we find the planet like Earth orbiting some other star, it must not be considered to be Earthlike, it may be another Venus or Mars. Even finding the planet in the so-called 'comfortable zone' is not a scientific evidence that you have found the life-bearing planet like Earth. This latter restriction is imposed by the Moon, which is already in the 'comfortable zone'. You did not visit these planets as a matter of seconds. It took you many minutes visiting the internal planets and many hours visiting the external planets i.e., Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto even though you were traveling at the speed of light. You found out that the phenomena that govern many of the events in the Solar System cannot be explained properly by the nine planets (of which Pluto is now demoted to Dwarf Planet, though, of course, it is still there orbiting around) namely, the orbits of Neptune and the Comets which frequently visit the inner Solar System. There is the prediction of total 11 Planets, 3 still are missing. Hopefully you will discover them in your journey.

VII. A Cup of Coffee at the Borders

The last thing you want to see the borders of solar system. You want to see what is there. Now re-consider the speed of your spacecraft. You will have to spare 1.5 Years to reach at the borders of solar system and again 1.5 years to return to earth. This does not include the time you will spend on a cup of coffee at the borders. So finally you decided and reached there. This zone contains little chunks of ice in the form of clouds, dust and gas, which are different from frozen water placed in the orbit around the Sun at this vast distance. Namely, Oort Cloud; this is the home place of many comets that are thrown into the inner solar system who travel at 6 to 100 times the speed of bullet, they take decades or centuries to come closer to Sun (who throws them? we don't know currently). Beyond this point a little further away, Sun's magnetic field and gravitation field ends. If you happen to cross this gravitation field it will be equivalent to as if you have jumped out of train and the train has left you behind. Though the effect would be minor because you are constantly in the Milky Way's gravity even when you are at Earth. The Sun is in the orbit around the Milky Way Galaxy at the velocity of about 100,000 km per hour.

VIII. Back to Home

Hopefully you enjoyed your journey and heading back to home. In your sightseeing tour, you specially noticed the design of celestial bodies all of which seem to engage in Gravitation and Magnetism. They are on the move all the time. Being a human and considering our size as compared to these giants, what makes us different from them? Why do we think them static points of white light in the night-sky? The answer is that we normally derive the conclusions based on the brief time of observation i.e., a few centuries. These giants are wandering around for billions of years and may be in their infacy. For us, they may be static. If we could somehow fast-forward the cosmic film, we could know whats going on exactly.

IX. Planning the Next Journey

We will plan out our next journey to our closest star and in the future episodes the further cool destinations in our home galaxy Milky Way onboard spacecraft LIGHT. Please spare some 100,000 years from your life in the next trip of Mysterious Universe.

X. The Conclusion

The deeper levels of understanding reveal the signatures of Intelligent Designer behind everything in here and up there. The question is how much deeper can you go?
